During the last decade with excitement we have welcomed in Greece educational programs within Museums and Art Galleries. By understanding the imperative need that children's first contact with art should be made in an early age; when the child approaches a work of art appreciatively, different imagery operates and enlists inside him/her impulsively we have, since 2007, included educational programs for children of ages 5-8 and 9-11 (in age-groups). The programs take place in the gallery of ''Astrolavos-dexameni'' and are conducted by art historian/curator Maria Aggeli, who specializes in children's educational programmes.
Children are invited to feel, suggest, discuss, create artistically, move within the gallery, work together and get inspired by the artworks in the exhibition space.
Every child comes wearing comfortable cloths and brings along an object, photograph, picture, etc, which is being asked for every time in the invitation of the educational program and is then utilized within children's creations.
The programs take place every Friday afternoon and in specified dates every month (2 programs per exhibition). These two programs are autonomous therefore children are able to attend one Friday or both.
