Astrolavos artlife 10.11.11 - 30.11.11

On Thursday, November 10th takes place the vernissage of the artistic luminaries by Luci Haerle and Yannis Roubesis, entitled: "Light delights" at the Art Gallery “Astrolavos artlife” (Irodotou 11, Kolonaki, tel: 210 7221200, 4, fax: 210 7221304, opening hours: Wed-Sat. 10.00-15.00, Tues-Thurs-Fri. 10.00-15.00 & 17.30-20.30, closed on Monday, www.astrolavos.gr, email: gallery@astrolavos.gr)

The works to be exhibited form a series of zoomorphic lights depicting monkeys, fish and dragons. In a postmodern baroque style and using various materials (inox, leather, wood, marble, steel, precious stones etc.), the two artists-designers create lamps as small works of art. At times suspended, at times resting on corresponding artistic bases, these luminaries stand out in a room. A surrealistic combination of the portrayed forms, in geometric shapes, alternates between highly contrasting colours, whereby a fuzzy orange forms a vivid contrast with a warm brown, or more classic combinations and confrontations, whereby a black lacquer is conversing with a silver inox. These forms burst with a startling originality and create fantasy games in compositions escaping from these of an utilitarian object, touching upon a work of art.
Light plays an obvious leading role in most of these sculptures, since it is integrated into traditional lampshades through postmodern compositions in diverse shapes and forms. Nevertheless, a second, equally important role is apparent by the use of lentiviral lighting. The artists thus succeed in giving a new dimension in every single configuration.

Overall, the exhibition is very original thanks to its particular design approach and the integration of light within a utilitarian design artwork.

Exhibition duration:  until Wednesday, November 30th 2011.
