Christina Douzeni, in her new solo exhibition, is presenting sculptures with children bodies as main theme. The statues are now being developed and occupy the space that really belongs to them.
The art critic Harris Cambouridis says of her work: "I like the sculptures of Douzeni more than before. They move me, transmit warm feelings. It is optimistic to see this artist who constantly tries to look for new things and further develop her works of art, at a time when very few care about quality, ethics and beauty".
Douzeni's central theme is, once again, human forms, small children in particular. She is now showing them in the form of portrait postures, postures so vivid, like a fragment of everyday life that is addressed to the viewer.
The plastic vocabulary of the works is far more developed than before. The stainless steel finds a greater volume to develop in the three dimensions, with designing shadows in between, which enable the sculptures to vibrate in space. Besides inspiration, enthusiasm and discipline, this work also requires long working hours in the laboratory with the tools of the sculptor. Ethical and visionary art.
Finally, on a purely aesthetic level, one can rejoice with the classic harmony of these projects, when it comes to their internal proportions and the way they predispose movement around them. Douzeni's sculpture has a romantic pulse and vividness, without relinquishing from the classic beauty that lies solidly in the background of the composition.

The new projects by Alexis Adam, most notably jewellery and design objects, are set to explore the dimension of space. The use of stem materials, such as iron and cement, and the primal forms, such as globes and orbits, transform the time intervals in present signs.
The artist seeks to transmit, especially through the ring collection dubbed: "ROUND ME", the metaphysical dimension of the humans, as if it were an obsession. Through this "hardcore" exhibition of objects, which bears the same title, the past and the future of human nature are combined to underline the sublime metal and the soil that is mutated into cement.
When it comes to the function and the role of light, Alexis Adam once again reaffirms his belief in the four elements (LIGHT-SOIL-AIR-COLOUR) of power. The hope of understanding the overall shape is therefore placed in the personal strength and knowledge of the initiated public. His jewellery resembles sculptures and the objects have a theatrical nature, certainly non-utilitarian, yet necessary for the aesthetic pleasure. |
