Stamatina Doutsoulis large-dimension works on paper, dominate the space with vibrant yellows and reds. The compositional background is overflowed by sharp design with china ink creating magical images; weird fairytales of beastly creatures, half men - half animals, staring with cold eyes- seemingly void -focusing on the infinite.
The artist incurs the highest possible lucidity of soul, so as to speak in the first personal about dreams or nightmares experienced in real or unreal situations. Her narration is strictly personal, with fluid and unclear boundaries between what is realistic and what comes from the world of ideas and the subconscious. The intention of individual feelings to reach more people is succeeded.
Through unclear images of two-substances, the artists' favorite subjects keep returning until someone dares to enter their world. One can observe human-formed animals or hybrid transmutations with animal heads, creatures with weird faces, without faces or with half covered characteristics, painted over with unrecognizable doodling or shadowing; these heroes, viewed from alternative sides, are transformed into optical puzzles.
These vividly expressionistic figures, sometimes express fear or terror, at times mockery, strong skepticism or cold cruelty, but almost all times show total absence of feeling on those white -mummy like- faces. The electric lamp, naked, un-artistic imposes the same torturing light like color does, feverish color, which the artist uses while escaping from the absolute duotone of black and white. The design dominates while the pen, like chisel, curves with sharpness on paper outlines from which shapes emerge. All is in extreme - color and design.
Excessive tensions but also excessive simplicity is combined so as to communicate an extravagant world of emotions.

Marina Maravelaki (on the lower level of the gallery) exhibits works-manufactures of large dimensions, mixed medium, based on processed painted wood and polyester. Main thematographic axis of this new personal exhibition is the City and City Visions. With expressionistic writing, Maravelaki tries to deconstruct and reset contemporary city sceneries based upon dynamic axes and sharp edging, finding their perfection via acutangular compositions.
The artist, said about this recent unit of works entitled: "Good Morning Athens":
"A lazy walk through images and urban experiences which shape a game of seasons, months and days succession through the use of geometric and organic architectural elements; life signs that stress the different function of each building in different phases of time. There is a tendency to elevate and enchant a strong juxtaposition of materials and symbols. Characters which are both surreal and rationalized. A quest through paths of urban space referring to the mystical side of the buildings and the city. Evident is the dynamic atmosphere pouring from the apex representation of buildings, with its monumental character and the somewhat austere design, but also a lyrical approach deriving from a rather warm color palette and transparent materials. A never-ending story based upon experimentations, optical elusions, succession of architectural rhythm and musicality. Reflected upon buildings, the philosophy of change, suggests that the past is intertwined with the present and the future. like an ever- changing mirror of Nature and Life."
