On Thursday, 14 th of June, from 20.00 until 22.30, in the art space of "Astrolavos artlife" (Irodotou 11, Kolonaki, tel: 210 7221200,4, fax:210 7221 304, www.astrolavos.gr, opening hours: Mon-Wed-Sat 11.00-15.00 Tu-Th-Fr 11.00-20.30), open a group painting exhibition of cooperating artists of the gallery and the individual exhibition with artistic clothing by Joanna Chrysohoidis , entitled: " Fly Butterfly fly" .

The artist which has presented works of her in art spaces of USA, like: Gayle Winson Gallery (Southampton, New York), Textile Museum (Washington DC), Boca Museum (Boca Raton, FL), Julie's Artisan Gallery (New York City) and has concluded studies in Textile Design and Fine Arts, bases her work on the Japanese art of shibori , using silk as main material.

J. Chrysohoidis is inspired by every day themes but also from nature. She is moved by living organisms and natural elements, like: tree trunks, animal skins, waterfalls and lot more natural motives, which afterwards she imprints on her canvas out of silk. According to the artist, when this canvas is placed upon the wearable cloth it carries with it energy and vividness and it transfers it.

Joanna Chrysohoidis' experimentations on cloth have always been her favorite, creative challenge; by constant studying she improves her techniques.

Although, her work continues on a constant evolutionary course of renewal, it remains 'faithful' on certain painting principles. Design-wise, the artist operates within the field of modernism, thus negotiating abstract forms and asymmetric motives.

In the present exhibition, J. Chrysohoidis has designed artistic clothing; dresses, shawls, airy blouses, etc, with the butterfly as a main theme. The artist, through her works, wishes to transform every woman who wears her creations into an ethereal creature.
