210 72 94 342, 3, fax no: 210 7293 317, www.astrolavos.gr)
an exhibition of paintings, drawings and installation by
Andromachi Giannopoulou, Foteini Kalle and Vana Datsouli
entitled: "Silent Grounds".
What drove these three young, female artists to co-exhibit,
therefore co-exist, in Astrolavos?
Small scale artworks made by original materials give fresh
meaning to the pictorial image and try, with a strict concentration
to the unconscious/ dreamlike, to bring to the surface all
those peculiar situations which make up the everyday life.
'Feeling', a sense fully spread and used up as the scapegoat
of our choices, is revealed based upon the different parameters
which assemble the detail of the drawing and the purity
of the outline are emphasized. A conscious, 'lived' reality
is evident through realistic shapes used mainly by Andromachi
Giannopoulou and Foteini Kalle, but also in the unrecognizable
forms of Vana Datsouli. These works are charged by contrasting
materials; sometimes vivid or faded by time into the power
hidden within the soundless thoughts of modern man. This
is why 'Silent Grounds' is above all a protest towards the
blatant, easy and unprocessed of information, which the
images of today give us.
