  Astrolavos dexameni

Sculpture Today, is a group exhibition which inspires to record few of the many diverse trends of sculpture within contemporary art. The theoretical base of the exhibition deals with not only the traditional meaning sculpture has acquired from the antiquity until the beginning of the 20th century, but also with its evolution during the movements of modernism and the important artistic revolutions of Marcel Duchamp, Joseph Beuys, the artists of Fluxus and the post avant-garde.

In this exhibition are shown works mainly by young artists, who are not afraid to experiment with their medium. Those artists easily 'play' with the notion of material and immaterial, with 'idea' and 'shape', with tangible and intangible, or formalistic and symbolic; thus, avoiding anything conventional in installation work.

The artifact seizes to be the result and becomes the vehicle.
Traditional materials often used in sculpture (wood or/ and metal), have been used in this exhibition in an entirely enterprising way; in addition many simplistic materials, ready mades, pictorial elements, polyester, rubber, wool, light, fiber, text- speech, take part. All of the above elements co exist in sculpture installations, recording and distinguishing dreams, thoughts, quests, myths and personal truths of the life of each artist.
Definitely, an exhibition which pin-points the 'Today' and prolongs the 'Tomorrow', in the field of installation and sculpture, an exhibition worth visiting.
The exhibition includes works of the following artists: Vasilopoulou Artemis, Zoggolopoulous Giorgos, Kalle Foteini, Kassotaki Maria, Livanos Panagiotis, Masaaki Noda, Datsouli Vana, Papageorgiou Christina, Stavrou Maria, Tsaras Kostas, and Houliaras Giorgos.
