"Get some fresh look", "GET SOME FRESH
ART", "Get some fresh ideas", "Get us
a fresh, brand new world"…
Slogans that overrun the contemporary man highlighting not
only the prevailing commands of modern society, but also
the innate human necessity for renewal and fresh beginnings
in every aspect of his life. The english word "FRESH",
when translated in greek has one more interpretation, characterizing
something as vivacious and youthful. This essential meaning
of the word "FRESH" is the semantic cell of the
creations and quests of the artists that take part in the
team exhibition: "GET SOME FRESH ART". The exhibition
opens on Thursday the 16th of June at "ASTROLAVOS dexameni"
Art Gallery (Xanthippou 11, Kolonaki, tel: 210 7294342,
3, fax: 210 7293317, www. astrolavos.gr). The participating
artists are: Nikos Alexiou, Angelos Antonopoulos, Alexandros
Vasmoulakis, Yiorgos Golfinos, Panagiotis Drantakis, Paula
Lakah, Maria Maroudi, Kostas Bobos, Dimitris Mitaras, Alexandra
Nasioula, Xristina Papageorgiou, Faidon Patrikalakis, Eleni
Pavlopoulou, Fotis Pehlivanidis, Sofia Simaki, Kostas Tsoklis,
Manolis Haros, Yioula Hatzigeorgiou. The artist's bar is
a creation of the architect Stelios Hatzilidis.
At a first level some artists have transferred at their
creations' visual frame, the "stylish", "modern"
view, either for the man's appearance and his lifestyle,
or for the design of objects and principles of everyday
life that surround him, or for a different, "fresh"
look at the world itself.
At a second level, some other exhibits bring the "freshness"
that nature and natural elements give off – either painted,
or in a primary form, with minimum elaboration from the
artist.
At a third level, the idea of fresh and freshness come to
the fore through the same technique characteristics of some
exhibits.
Can forms, colors, creation and making of an art piece bring
out and pass to the viewer this sensation? To this question
are asked to reply young and elder artists, because we believe
that youth, freshness, optimism, "positive way of thinking
and acting" is not a privilege just for young people,
but also for everyone that feels young in his sole.
Is art able to renew itself, along with the artist and the
viewer? Can a renewal semantic frame work vice-versa? Does
the attempt of the artist to create a fresh art piece influence
his psychology too? We hope that this exhibition through
its art pieces will answer to the questions above.
Duration of the exhibition: until 2nd of June.
