On Thursday the 3rd of February opens at the Art Gallery
"ASTROLAVOS artlife" (Irodotou 11, Kolonaki, tel:
210 7221200, 4, fax: 210 7221304, www.astrolavos.gr) a painting
exhibition by Giorgos Vakirtzis.
Vakirtzis represents in his works a human world focalized
in human figure. A world of his, coordinated in friezes
like a company that narrates myths, where the spectator
becomes a participant.
With strong influences from the Byzantine art, a particular
expressionism, an incomparable ability to insert figures
or surroundings by shapes or realistic spaces given with
full colors he manages to live his own stigma in Greek Painting.
Duration of exhibition: until 26 of February.
Vakirgis was born in Mytilini in 1923 and passed away in
1989 in Athens.
He learned the technique of making giant show bills by Almaliotis
and he developed it into an important artistic kind of write.
He studied in School of Fine Arts from 1939 to 1946 and
in Ecole des Beaux Arts of Paris from 1952 to 1953.
He assumed the management of film companies ("Skouras
Films", "Finos Films", "LTC" of
Paris) and also the management of advertisement companies.
He had made many exhibitions and in 1989 the National gallery
had organized a retrospective exhibition about his work.
He had participated in many exhibitions in Greece and in
Abroad.
