|
In this new exhibition the artist Paola Lakah presents 3 units of work: sculptures of small or larger dimensions, bright signals (her light manufactures) and her artistic jewelry. The artists' way of expression, is run by unified spirit and style. Works structured in different materials varying from plexy-glass and polyester wires to inox and aluminum in which is evident the geometry of shape and the futuristic, postmodern references. Furthermore, a characteristic of the artists work is a sense of transformation, penetration and interpolation of one morphological element within another and on one material to the other.
Simple forms within their simplicity create a world of biomorphic figures, ultra modern, very often referencing to the animal and plant kingdom or the astral space.
The reduction of form into triangles, circles, curvilined and devious shapes refer to basic structures of matter and nature (like the creation of crystals, hives or dna). These images-symbols by the artist operate as rings - omens of hope and good fortune for every human being that comes in contact with them. |

During the same period of time, at the same art space is presented the new work of Joanna Chrysohoidis, entitled: '' A girl and her journal''. Small dimension works referencing to contemporary culture and everyday life but also in private moments approached with humour and a sense of self-sarcasm. Short everyday stories, taken from her individual artistic diary, transmitted into works. Works of vivid colours in pop style, incorporated to them cult figures different fonts and numbers. The emphasis is placed on mixed technique; besides colour the artist uses collage and digital prints combining them in an obscure way referring to surrealism. All together the artist's expressive artistic idiom is necessary for the narration of these contemporary surrealistic short stories.
The artist herself claims: ''This work is purely intuitional, therefore my inspiration derives from different 'life journeys'. How the outside world relates to the inside.''.
These are works that attract the viewer with their bright colours, humorous writing and cartoon design strongly reminding the viewer of childhood painting; telling stories anyone can relate to.
