Many believe that ''fewer the words stronger the sketches''. This most definitely is applied on the everyday sketches of Elias Makris in Kathimerini newspaper that many times act as the most satirical remark of the day.
Some of his most unique sketches, signaling important events of the last years characterized by their artistic flair managing to stand timeless with humor and incisive spirit, reminding us facts that even without the existence of a caption speak by themselves, have been chosen to be exhibited in a individual exhibition, in ''Astrolavos artlife'' from Thursday 18th of February 2010 until Saturday 6th of March 2010.

For the work of Elias Makris Nikos Xydakis claims: ''.the sketches' writing is accurate and clear, almost realistic. His look is acentric, canted, subversive, and almost surrealistic. In a newspaper, the reader, the citizen read of plain realities or even a crack in everyday life, whereas Makris shows the breach.shows the ''lie'', shows the conventional truth, the hypocrisy, even the deceit, willing or unwillingly. Its abstract writing allows the artist to say with lucidity and truthfulness all these things that it's awkward for the press to say. He can say everything without writing down a single word.''
Elias Makris was born in Athens, 1956. Studied painting and etching in Germany. Since 1981 is professionally involved with sketching.
He has worked for Vima and Ethnos Newspapers and numerous magazines.
The past 21 years he has been sketching for Kathimerini newspaper.
He has published 5 caricature books and in 2007 has been awarded the Botsi Prize for his contribution to caricature sketching.
