On Thursday the 1st of July the Art Gallery "ASTROLAVOS
artlife" inaugurates a team exhibition of ceramics.
The participant artists are: Anna Antonopoulou, Monica Diamantopoulou,
Nikos Karalis, Thomais Kontou, Lili Bakogianni, Doriza.
The warmth of clay, the hand-made form, the marvelous oxidations
and techniques, its marriage to a variety of materials,
by the hands of famous artists-ceramists, accomplish to
fascinate the art-lover.
Their love for earth, fire, contact and discipline of material
is reflected in their work and their sensitivity and ability
to produce sculptural constructions is expressed in their
forms. Simple, geometrical or sensitive forms that sometimes
refer to primeval forms and some other times to abstract
totem, will give an idea of the new work of the ceramists,
who will participate in this exhibition.
Anna Antonopoulou will display a number of toys, animals
and dolls made by red clay and white glass-cover, painted
by hand and baked at 1150° degrees.
Monica Diamantopoulou will display minimal sculptures inspired
by cycladic figurines, made by leaves of clay of high temperature
and decorated by painted geometrical designs.
Nikos Karalis will display sculptural constructions from
his file "pupils", where the head usually is the
ceramic part, while the body is wooden, decorated by wire
and other materials.
Maro Kerassoti, afterwards her occupation with the construction
of ceramic walls of the railway station at Marousi, turned
to "on the wall" and architectural constructions.
These constructions are characterized by the strong colors
and by the use of gold and platinum, which are added in
the third parching.
Thomais Kontou will display busts made by white porcelain
with colored designs, as well as unique everyday use objects.
Lili Bakogianni displays tables, which combine wood with
ceramic. In these tables she manages to enclose marvelous
landscapes and to open roads that travel you to summer places.
Finally, Peggy Doriza displays "on the wall" constructions
made by stoneware clay. They have graven and printed designs
inspired by Byzantine vestments and oriental handmade rugs.
Duration of exhibition: until 31st of July.
